Benzema is top scorer away from home

After an international break in which Karim Benzema took the opportunity to recover from knee discomfort and work to the orders of Senor Pintus, the striker returned to the Real Madrid starting line up and finished the game against Real Betis by adding to his goal tally.

He also registered an assist for Isco and was much more involved in the game than he has previously been this season.

Goals in Las Palmas, against Espanyol in Cornella and again on Saturday, this time in the Estadio Benito Villamarin, evidence a continuing improvement from the striker.

Betis also happens to be the Frenchman’s favourite victim.

Six goals in eight games is ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo (four in nine) and Gareth Bale (three in three).

Benzema, as usual, was substituted in the second half for Alvaro Morata, a player who could return for the Champions League game against Legia.
