Post-match interviews are often dull affairs. Most of the time, they feature a tired footballer saying he is happy/gutted about winning/losing (delete as applicable).
But when it’s Cristiano Ronaldo – football’s biggest superstar – doing the post-match interview, it’s a little different.
Take the clip you can see above. At first glance, it sees Real Madrid’s main man trotting out pretty predictable platitudes about their win over Man City in the Champions League semi-final.
But look a little closer and you begin to see some wonderfully Cristiano-like behaviour…
“People doubt me… I don’t know why. They forget that sometimes I recover fast”
What CR7 is thinking: “Up yours, world.”
“We were the better team. We created chances – Modric and myself”
What CR7 is thinking: “ I’ll give Luka some credit – he tends to pass me the ball, so he deserves a pat on the back. The rest of my team mates? They might as well just leave me to it.”
The delight when he’s asked “how are you, personally”
What CR7 is thinking: “Ah, so we are done talking about the game, are we? Marvellous – that means we can move on to the important stuff: ME! BIG SMILE!”
His constant stare into a distant corner
What CR7 is thinking: “I could be on the floor of the dressing room right now, doing some sit-ups in front of that full-length mirror…”
And the strange glance down at his feet
What CR7 is thinking: “Man, my legs are pretty…”
