Revelation: Alex Ferguson says Ronaldo plans to get wed in Scotland

Cristiano Ronaldo will get married in Scotland, if he ever gets wed, according to his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Real Madrid superstar has repeatedly referred to Fergie as a ‘father figure’ during his time at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo shot to stardom under the stewardship of the Scot, having arrived in the Premier League from Sporting Lisbon as a teenager.

His astronomical rise to one of the greatest players to ever play the game has led to him earning lots and lots of money, and it is protecting those funds that is at the heart of his plan to tie the knot north of the border.

The law in Scotland says husbands do not have to share pre-marital earnings if they split.

Sir Alex wrote in his book Leading: “Ronaldo said when the time came he would only get married in Scotland.”

Ronaldo revealed on the Jonathan Ross Show last Friday night that he has got “a few” women in his life, but was taking his time to decide who was right.

Following the statement, Portuguese source Flash Vidas have linked him with the daughter of his agent Jorge Mendes, Marisa.

Marriage will likely be the furthest thing from the Portuguese’s mind today, as he and his Los Blancos teammates prepare to welcome Barcelona to the Bernabeu for the first El Clasico of the season.

Ronaldo’s great rival Lionel Messi is expected to return to the Catalans’ lineup, having not featured since being forced off injured in Barca’s win over Las Palmas in September.
