Just three Real Madrid players left without a goal in 2016/17

Much talk has been spent on the inability of Real Madrid’s star attackers to pile on the goals in the first months of the new season, yet the fact remains that almost everyone else is getting in on the act instead.

In dispatching Cultural Leonesa 7-1 in their Copa del Rey first leg, Los Merengues saw Nacho Fernandez and Mariano get on the scoresheet to become the 19th and 20th players to score by late October.

That leaves just Mateo Kovacic, the injured Casemiro, and Fabio Coentrao, who has managed just 32 minutes so far, as the only outfield players to have appeared in the 2016/17 campaign without grabbing a goal.

What’s very noticeable about the scoring records at this stage is the proficiency of the defence, combining to notch 10 times, compared to the midfield’s 12 goals, six of which have come via Marco Asensio, and 19 for the attackers.
