Had very little to do, but was always up to the task when called upon, coming off his line without hesitation to deal with the rare City threat.

Eager to get forward right from the start, causing all sorts of trouble for the likes of Fernando and Clichy. Picked out the pass for Bale that led to the game’s only goal.

3. PEPE 3.0
Hardly put a foot wrong at the back, and set up what looked like his side’s second goal, but it was called back for offside.

Kept Aguero in his hip pocket, never letting the Argentine escape his watch, which in turn made life very easy on his keeper.

Was so composed in dealing with any threat posed by the speedy Navas, keeping the Spaniard at arm’s length throughout. Looked dangerous when he did decide to get forward.

11. GARETH BALE 4.0
He was a menace on the front foot, creating Fernando’s own goal with a good run and shot, while nearly doubling his side’s tally with a header off the underside of the bar in the second half. An attacking force throughout, who wouldn’t be dispossessed with the ball at his feet.

20. JESE RODRIGUEZ 2.5
Put in a hard shift up top, running well off the ball to open up space, but wasn’t able to get on the end of a chance as he was replaced before the hour mark.

He just come back from an injury, and didn’t play for 15 days, but tonight he played an average game and had 7 shots, 3 of them on target.
