Real Madrid (3-1) Napoli – Player Ratings

1. KEYLOR NAVAS 2.5
Caught in no man’s land for the first goal of the night, but made a couple of reasonable saves to keep Napoli at bay.

2. DANIEL CARVAJAL 3.5
Curled in a brilliant cross with the outside of his boot for Benzema’s goal and was solid defensively.

5. RAPHAEL VARANE 3.0
Should have done better with a headed chance just before the break, but covered for his centre-back partner well.

4. SERGIO RAMOS 3.5
Strong aerially and didn’t allow for Mertens to see much of the ball in to feet throughout the game.

12. MARCELO 3.5
Keen to break the byline and support attacks whenever possible, and didn’t allow Callejon much joy in behind.

19. LUKA MODRIC 3.5
Keen to drive forward and play a wonderful range of passes, and worked hard to track back defensively too.

14. CASEMIRO 4.0
Thumped home a fantastic half-volley in the second half, which left Reina with no chance, and broke up play expertly.

8. TONI KROOS 3.5
Rifled home a neat finish from just inside the box, and pulled the strings from deeper areas in the second half.

10. JAMES RODRIGUEZ 3.0
Effective on either flank, and played some inviting balls into the penalty area from out wide.

9. KARIM BENZEMA 3.0
Headed home a good equaliser, but hit the post and missed another good first-half chance. A hit-and-miss night.

7. CRISTIANO RONALDO 3.5
Cut back some neat balls from the left, but snatched at good first-half opportunity. Provided a vital assist for Kroos.

3. PEPE 3.0
Introduced for the last 20 minutes and had no problems slotting into the back four in Ramos’ place.

17. LUCAS VAZQUEZ 3.0
Deployed out on the right-hand side and occasionally threatened to get in behind with his pace.

21. ALVARO MORATA 3.0
Held the ball up well and kept it moving, but didn’t have any good chances of his own.
