Real Madrid President Florentino Perez Rejected Signing Paul Pogba…TWICE

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez rejected the chance to sign Juventus’ Paul Pogba on two previous occasions, according to Mundo Deportivo.

As things stand, if reports are to be believed, Real Madrid will miss out on Pogba’s signature to Manchester United in a £100m world record deal. But the European Champions could have once signed the France midfielder for nothing.

Pogba was offered to Real Madrid in 2012 after he decided to leave Manchester United in search of more first-team opportunities, however, Perez opted not to sign the Frenchman.

Mundo Deportivo’s report also says that last summer Madrid again had the opportunity to sign Pogba when director Jose Angel Sanchez reached an agreement with the 23-year-old’s agent Mino Raiola.

But just as in 2012, Perez did not want the transfer to go through.

Real Madrid once again appear to be a possible destination for Pogba, but Old Trafford looks his most likely destination should he depart Juventus.

Manchester United’s new boss Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his side in one more area after already improving the team’s attack by signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan thanks to Pogba’s agent Raiola.

Mourinho has also bolstered the Red Devil’s defence by signing centre-back Eric Bailly from Villarreal for a £30m fee.

The Special One will now look to make at least one more signing in the form of Pogba as he attempts to reinforce Manchester United’s midfield.

Should a deal for Pogba not materialise, the 20-time English champions are expected to turn their attention to Paris Saint-Germain’s Blaise Matuidi.
