Gareth Bale could be fit for Wales’ must-win World Cup qualifier away to the Republic of Ireland on March 24th.
The Real Madrid star picked up an ankle ligament problem in their Champions League game against Sporting Lisbon in November, with the initial recovery time expected to be four months.
However, according to the Daily Mail, the 27-year-old could return earlier than predicted as the winger’s general fitness and athleticism has remained high.
Real – who currently sit top of La Liga – would want him to play at least once, though, before allowing him to leave Spain on international duty.
Wales’ game against the Republic of Ireland has become a must-win tie for the Dragons after their last three games – against Austria, Georgia and Serbia – ended in draws.
