Real Madrid won’t scare anyone in the Champions League

Zinedine Zidane’s side eased through despite Roma missing a host of chances, and Owen Hargreaves feels few prospective quarter-final opponents will want to avoid them in the draw.

Real Madrid’s win over Roma will not have scared any of the other sides left in the Champions League, according to Owen Hargreaves.

Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez at Santiago Bernabeu proved enough to secure a 4-0 aggregate victory over the Serie A outfit, though they were made to work hard to secure their victory.

Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah both wasted gilt-edged chances to cut the deficit before Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 64th minute as Luciano Spalletti’s side threatened to stage a comeback.

And Hargreaves – who won the Champions League with both Bayern Munich and Manchester United – felt the Blancos were fortunate to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.
