1. KEYLOAR NAVAS 3.0
The Costa Rican goalkeeper could do little about either of Wolfsburg’s goals but was on hand to stop his side from falling further behind with several important saves.
23. DANILO 2.0
The Brazilian was extremely poor defensively, as too often he was beaten by the pace and skill of Draxler, who caused plenty of problems for the right-back.
3. PEPE 2.5
Like Ramos, the Portuguese centre-back was far too sloppy defensively, which made life much easier for the hosts. Fell asleep and left too much space available inside the Real Madrid penalty area, and he took far too many risks with the ball at his feet.
4. SERGIO RAMOS 2.0
The captain never looked comfortable when trying to deal with the Wolfsburg front line, who were devastatingly effective on the counter-attack. Was all over the place at the back and failed to keep an eye on the opposition, resulting in him being beaten far too easily by Arnold in the build-up to Wolfsburg’s second goal.
12. MARCELO 2.0
Too often left far too much space available down the wing, which Henrique took advantage of time and time again. His positioning left much to be deisred and caused all types of problems for his fellow defenders.
19. LUKA MODRIC 2.0
It was a tough night for the Croatian, who was unable to find as much space in the middle of the pitch as he would have like due to diligent defending by the hosts.
14. CASEMIRO 2.0
The Brazilian didn’t perform at all well enough at the base of the Real Madrid midfield, where he too often left space available for the Wolfsburg front line to take advantage of and gave away a penalty from which the hosts opened the scoring.
8. TONI KROOS 2.5
Had a few good moments in the middle of the pitch as some of his passing was slick and precise, but overall he looked slightly sluggish on the ball and didn’t have the desired impact.
11. GARETH BALE 3.0
Arguably Real Madrid’s biggest attacking threat, despite him not being quite at his best. Battled well against Vieirinha and did his best to start something for the visitors.
9. KARIM BENZEMA 2.5
The Frenchman was presented with a great opportunity to score in the first half but sent his header well wide the goal, and from the onwards he struggled against Dante and Naldo before making way just before the half-time break after picking up an injury.
7. CRISTIANO RONALDO 2.5
Nothing seemed to work for the Portuguese forward, who just couldn’t find any joy against Wolfsburg’s well-organised back line. He started on the left and moved to the right before operating for a time in the middle, but wherever he went he was diligently closed down by the hard-working hosts.
20. JESE RODRIGUEZ 2.0
Didn’t have the desired effect after coming on for Benzema and continually struggled. His final touches were largely poor and he found little joy against both Dante and Naldo.
22. ISCO 2.5
Made a bit of a difference after replacing Modric with half an hour left to play but saw his influence wane as the game wore on and his teammates tired.
10. JAMES RODRIGUEZ
Featured late on but was unable to make much of an impact as Wolfsburg comfortably held on to possession.
